The Bindu Foundation (Brandix)
The Bindu Foundation has been working to alleviate the stress of water poverty, especially in the lives of women across Sri Lanka. A survey conducted in 2006 of our then workforce of 30,000, highlighted that lack of access to water was the most pressing concern for women. The foundation conducts its programmes to provide access to clean potable water, educate the community on water conservation and management. The foundation’s flagship education programme is a programme that trains female led community based organisations (CBO) on water resource management issues. The programme is aiming to reach all 3500 CBOs in Sri Lanka. Their long-term strategy the foundation will conduct research into water related health issues such as kidney disease and fluorosis as well as innovative water technology to increase the effectiveness and impact of their programmes at the Water Resources and Training Centre in Anuradhapura. The foundation is committed to responding to all make environmental and humanitarian disasters as and when they occur.
